Let's start with outerwear! The Tosti is the single nicest thing I've ever made for myself. Perfect jacket when the weather is wet and cold, but still above freezing. (I did a waxed canvas shell, used my favorite lining fabric ever, interlined with one extra layer of cotton flannel because waxed canvas is a little translucent and you could see the lining pattern.)
Waffle Patterns are really well drafted and the instructions are great. Lots of pocket options!

Okay, I'm not going to lie, one reason the Grove caught my eye is that their sample uses my favorite flannel as the lining. I haven't made one, but I like Twig & Tale. Grove looks like a great mid-temperature coat without nearly as many technical details as the Tosti, seems a lot more straightforward to make.
#3
I'd like a long wool coat for myself from V1976, interlined with wool batting and heavy enough to cut the wind when I'm outside for a long time in the snow.
#4
Goldstream is a classic peacoat, really like the look of this one. Let's be honest, I'll probably interline this one with wool batting, too.
#5
Let's talk about blazers! The Merchant & Mills blazer is in their new Workwear book, can be made lined or unlined. Classic lines, fairly fitted, would wear in the wood shop.
#6
Burda 138 has a cool partial lining. I really like how this style of lining has the fitting ease for the upper back across two overlapping pieces of fabric, that detail makes me happy! Making one of these in a summer weight linen with Hong Kong seam finishes is really high on my to-do list right now.
#7
M8614 has a partial lining with that same upper back that I like, but this pattern includes shoulder pads. Any more structure than that and you're getting into suit coat territory, which is more formal than this particular midwestern dad cares to tackle.
#8
ME2036 has action shoulder gussets so you can use a stiff fabric and still move your arms, the right jacket for outdoor projects.
#9
Spindrift includes a view with a built-in hood, want one of those! The unisex pattern has a ton of options for shirt length and body size.
#10
Zip front, optional hood, solid fleece jacket.
#11
I like the Cassidy design, and absolutely had to include it when I saw the subtitle: La Veste Midwest. (Note that the hoodie is not included, just part of the styling for the photo.) This look pairs well with early morning gas station coffee when you’re about to drive for nine hours.
#12
ME2105 cardigan gives me the "cozy reading by the fire" vibe.
#13
The Newcastle cardigan wants to go out to the farmer's market or the hardware store. Really taken by the shawl collar on this, looking forward to making one when I find the right fabric, maybe a ponte knit.
#14
Belvedere taught me a new way to stitch and turn a vest, plus a vest gives you lots of chances to play with fabrics.
#15
Zip front with storm placket to keep the wind out, nice seamlines into the pockets, some great pattern variations, including a quilted look. Trailblazer with some quilted fabric is on my short list for the fall.
#16
Reversible, nice seamlines, zip front with no placket, would use as a layering piece with fleece.
#17
Only good things to say about Thread Theory patterns, well drafted, good instructions, helpful make-along blog posts for everything. I'm really happy with how my first pair of Jutland turned out, and I'm keeping my eyes open for fabric to make more.
(Managed to track down more of the multicolor check I used for the jacket lining, will make lined Jutland with that.)
#18
I want some ME2106 out of flannel, as business pajamas.
#19
Want Shore Pants in linen for the summer.

Simplicity 1544 will get you through a lot of shirts. View A is a good business shirt, with some cool color details called out. View D is your flannel shirt pattern, with button down pockets. Get your fit dialed in on this one and you can fill your closet.
