Fabric suggestions
Choose a medium weight, 4-way stretch knit, with at least 50% stretch Cotton lycra, brushed poly, and spandex blends work well. If using a lighter fabric with less recovery, your sock will fall during the day. Bonds need to have great recovery to hold sock and not stretch out during the day.
If using a very thick, custom lycra fabric, you may need to size up one
Fabric requirements
APPROXIMATE BY YARD FOR 60" WIDE KNITS
Ankle: 1/8 - 3/8 yd
Crew: 1/8 - 3/8 yd
Knee: 1/4 - 3/4 yd
Does not account for any shrinkage, print matching or fabric off grain. Socks can be made with scrap fabrics. Requirement given for all pieces and you have extra fabric or be able to make several pairs.
Supplies
Basics: thread, pins or clips, scissors or rotary cutter.
Ball point, stretch, or jersey needle.
*Always use a serger or a stretch stitch when working with knit. When using a straight stitch with knit, increase the stitch length to allow for stretch. The stretch of the fabric always goes horizontally around the body
