Fabric suggestions
This pattern is designed for woven fabrics without any stretch. If you want to sew a coat with pockets, we recommend cotton or linen fabrics with some structure -- like needlecord, denim, or canvas. For a version without pockets, you can use any woven fabric, even lightweight fabrics with drape. This will give the Artist coat a floating, almost robe-like character.
The light green sample is made from 100% raw silk noil (4.54 oz/154 gsm) and the dark green sample is made from MeetMILK’s “Tencel Sera Weighty Cotton Blend” in emerald and deep green (50% Tencel, 50% organic cotton, 8.85 oz/300 gsm). Both fabrics are from Atelier Goldfaden.
