Fabric suggestions
Plain Woven Cotton, Linen, Gauze, Challis, Twill, Silk, Velvet, Lightweight Denim, Chiffon, Taffeta, Crepe, Georgette, Lace, Lightweight Wools. Would be great for solid colors, florals, plaids, stripes, and ginghams.
Fabric requirements
60" Fabric- 5 3/4 yards* (When bodice is lined with the same fabric as the shell)
48" Fabric - 9 yards* (When bodice is lined with the same fabric as the shell)
* Additional fabric is required when not pre-shrunk, matching plaids/stripes, or for directional prints or nap fabrics.
Only the bodice is lined, the skirt is not. So if you are using a transparent fabric you may want to add a skirt layer or a slip underneath. However, the amount of gathering helps make it less opaque.
