Fabric suggestions Show/hide details
We recommend lightweight drapey fabrics in natural fibers that will be soft against your skin: rayon challis, Bemberg/cupro, and viscose; soft cottons like lawn, sateen, and voile; nylon tricot; and silk crepe de chine, habotai, or charmeuse. Cotton or rayon lining fabrics and lightweight silk/cotton blends are also a good choice. We recommend against using polyester fabrics for this project, since man-made fibers will trap heat and moisture against your skin. For the tap pants gusset: we recommend natural fiber woven or jersey fabric. Cotton, bamboo, and silk are all appropriate. For the tap pants interfacing: we recommend fusible lightweight or very lightweight woven or tricot interfacing for the button guard on the tap pants. For sheer fabrics and lace, we recommend underlining the button guard with silk organza in your skin tone instead. For the optional lace: we recommend any non-stretch, light- to medium-weight lace. Lace appliqués, lace yardage, and lace trims are all wonderful options!
