Fabric suggestions
The Waist Cincher requires specialty fabrics: cotton coutil and heavyweight power net are required, and recommended fabric sources are included in the instructions booklet. If desired, a medium-weight woven may be used as a fashion fabric, in addition to the coutil and power net. Fashion fabric recommendations include: silk taffeta, dupioni, satin, and shantung; cotton broadcloth and sateen; or a natural-fiber brocade.
Recommended fabrics for the Petticoat include: lightweight cottons like batiste, lawn, and voile; rayon challis; and silk crepe de chine or charmeuse for the petticoat yoke. For the tiers of the petticoat, we recommend lightweight-wovens that will be soft against your skin like silk or synthetic organza or organdy. Chiffon can also be used, but it will create a softer petticoat with less structure.
