VIEW A - BARN COAT: Mid- to heavyweight non-stretch wovens with structure, such as canvas, twill, denim, corduroy, or wool. VIEW B - QUILTED JACKET: For a quick and easy make, choose a prequilted fabric or a substantial jacquard, brocade, or similarly beefy fabric that holds its shape without a batting layer. To create a quilted jacket: Outer and inner layer − light- to midweight woven fabrics such as cotton poplin, lawn, voile, chambray and broadcloth, or linen. Drapey fabrics are not recommended. Middle batting layer − quilt batting in cotton, bamboo, or wool.

VIEW A - BARN COAT -Fusible interfacing, 0.25 yd (0.25 m) -Topstitching thread -Buttons or snap buttons, 5 x 5/8" (16 mm) wide -Matching thread VIEW B - QUILTED JACKET -Double-fold bias tape, 7-9.5 yd (6.5-8.5 m) × 1/2" (13 mm) wide -Buttons, snap buttons, or sew-on snaps, 5 x 5/8" (16 mm) wide -Matching thread -Safety pins or basting spray, to use for basting layers together if you're quilting your own fabric
