We recommend light- to medium-weight wovens: cottons like shirting, poplin, broadcloth, chambray, sateen, twill, and lawns; linen and linen blends; or silks with body like dupioni, shantung, brocade and taffeta. For the underlining fabric (which will be visible from the inside), we recommend: cotton broadcloth, sturdy silks like shantung or faille, and other sturdy lining fabrics. You may also use your fashion fabric. For the stretch back, we recommend: heavy-weight 4-way stretch power net with 50% stretch.

Underlining fabric; Power net fabric; Thread to match; 1¼-in-wide fusible stay tape to stabilize the zipper (alternatively, cut a strip from a scrap of fusible interfacing yardage); ½ yd fusible fleece; 3 yd (2.8 m) ⅜-in (1 cm) picot elastic; 5-in (12.7 cm) separating zipper (for Cropped Version); 7-in to 8-in (17.78 cm- 20.32 cm) separating zipper (for Full-Length Version); 6 yd (5.5 m) of ½-in-wide (1.3 cm) boning channeling; ¼ to 1 yard (0.2 to 0.9 m) of ¼-in-wide (6 mm) spiral steel boning; Metal cutters and pliers; Boning tips or Teflon tape.
