Light to medium weight woven fabrics with little or no stretch. For beginners, it’s recommended to choose a non-slippery fabric that won’t fray a lot. Examples include linen or cotton plain weaves, poplin, lawn or gauze. Silk, viscose/rayon or polyester wovens with some drape can also be used and will be slightly more difficult to sew.
