Starfish Wearable Blanket sewing pattern

This pattern requires a mid to heavy weight stable knit fabric with some horizontal mechanical stretch. While the stretch isn't absolutely necessary, it will make the blanket more comfortable to wear. A woven fabric can work, but you may want to add extra length, and you are limited by WOF. You will also need to finish all the seams. Ideal fabrics are fleece, cotton french terry, sherpa, Polartec, some pontes, even a chunky sweater knit! The neckband requires a knit fabric with at least 50% stretch and excellent recovery. Cuffs require a knit fabric with at least 75% stretch and excellent recovery, such as a ribbing. If you are using cotton lycra (or similar) with less stretch for the cuffs, it will absolutely work, but you may need to gather the sleeve/leg opening if the stretch is not enough. Measurements are in yards and based on 58” (147cm) wide knit fabric. Kid and Adult XXS-XL can be made using 56" (142cm) wide fabric. Yardage assumes that your fabric has been prewashed and preshrunk. Extra fabric may be required for matching prints, directional fabric, or if you need to add length.
