Symmes Strapless Bra sewing pattern

Main fabric: non-stretch woven fabric such cotton or rayon, or bra fabric as duoplex. Fabric with a maximum stretch of 15% in one direction is acceptable. Lining: non-stretch bra lining fabric such as nylon tricot or duoplex. NOTE: lining the cups is optional, but the lining on the center front band is required. Bra foam: cut & sew foam, 1⁄8” – 1⁄4” (3-6 mm) thick Back band: mid-weight stretch fabric such as nylon/spandex power mesh with 25–50% stretch in one direction and at least 10% in the opposite direction. For a more supportive bra, use a heavy-weight power mesh.

- Band elastic: ¾” (19 mm) wide plush-back strap elastic - Bias tape: 1 ¼ yard (1.2 m) of 1 ¼” (3.2 cm) wide bias tape - Hook & eye closure: continuous hook & eye tape with at least 3 columns of eyes. The number of hook and eyes are based on the wire size and range from 5 to 11 rows. - Boning: ¼" (6 mm) wide plastic boning with covering - Underwire channeling: plush backed underwire channeling - Underwires: 1 pair of vertical underwires. NOTE: this pattern has been designed for use with vertical underwires such as these from Porcelynne. - Universal needle, thread - Optional: stretch needle, lingerie bow for center front, hand needle to attach bow, Wonder Tape Tools: Tailor’s ham or rolled up towel, standard presser foot, zipper foot, press cloth, non-sewing scissors for cutting boning, lighter for melting the ends of plastic boning (optional)
