Fabric suggestions
For the long trouser version, it’s best to choose a fabric with enough structure to maintain the characteristic barrel shape. Fabrics such as denim, linen, seersucker, canvas, or cotton twill are therefore ideal. Stretch or comfort stretch is not necessary to make Tiki comfortable — the fit itself already provides plenty of freedom of movement.
If you do use a fabric containing stretch, make sure to properly stabilize the curved seams so they do not ripple during sewing or wear.
For the shorts version, you can perfectly opt for lightweight and fluid fabrics if you want to create an airy summer version or comfortable pyjama shorts.
