Main: Swimsuit fabrics such as spandex or Lycra. Fabric should have 4-way stretch with at least 75% stretch across the grain and 50% stretch along the grain. Lining: Lightweight swimsuit lining fabrics such as spandex or Lycra. Fabric should have 4-way stretch with 75% stretch across the grain and 50% stretch along the grain. Power mesh bra back (optional): The bra back can be made either from the main swimsuit fabric or power mesh if your main fabric is lightweight and/or you want more support. Use a medium- or heavy-weight power mesh fabric with at least 50% stretch in one direction. The stretch amount in the other direction can be anywhere from 0 to 50%. Cup fabric: The front cups of the built-in bra require a closed cell (non-absorbent) foam fabric such as stretch cut & sew foam or neoprene scuba fabric. Fabric should have about 10-15% stretch in one direction. The stretch amount in the other direction should be minimal to none.
