Fabric suggestions Show/hide details
This pattern requires fabric with a good amount of drape to avoid a stiff-looking skirt and to avoid bunching in the adjustable sides. Fabric should be thick enough to avoid a transparent garment. Front and back bodice pieces may also benefit from underlining. Summer options include: lightweight linen, rayon, silk, seersucker, Tencel, chambray. Double gauze, voile, georgette, lawn and muslin can be used but will need to be lined to add some support and reduce sheerness. We recommend self lining the bodice using the exterior pattern pieces rather than cutting facings and linings if using these fabrics. Winter options include: medium-weight linen, chambray, wool, soft corduroy, thinner velvet. Lining options include: rayon, silk, viscose, cotton poplin, voile, lawn and other lightweight breathable wovens.

- Up to 3⁄4 yard (70cm) of light to medium-weight interfacing to stabilise the bodice facings. Woven, non-woven and knit types are all suitable, but knit and woven will be more durable. • You will need up to 3 ¼ yards (3m) of 2” (5cm) wide and ¾ yd (60cm) of 1” (2.5cm) wide store bought binding or make your own bias tape using the templates provided. • Optional: You may choose to add interfacing, horsehair braid or an alternative (light batting for example) to the skirt Hem Facing. If so, you will need up to the following amount of 2” (50mm) wide interfacing/braid: Sizes A-F: 4 3⁄4 yards (4.3m), Sizes G-L: 4 ⅞ yards (4.5m), Sizes M-T: 5 1⁄2 yards (5m).
