Fabric suggestions Show/hide details
The Heatwaves dress is designed to work with light to medium weight woven fabrics like rayon and viscose (crepe, voile, poplin, twill, challis), cotton (lawn, voile, poplin, crinkle cotton, shirting), linen (washed linen, linen noil) and tencel twill. Fabrics like rayon will look more fluid and have more drape and fabrics like cotton will give more structure and volume. Please also note that the fit of the dress will be affected by the *main fabric* choice because of the shirring panel at the back. Fabrics with more structure like cotton or linen will generally not gather as much when shirring. Make sure to adjust your machine so the center back (4) is appropriately gathered when sewing. Otherwise, it might make the bust fit too loose/big.
