Fabric suggestions
For this design, cotton poplin medium weight is an excellent choice due to its structured texture, which allows it to hold shape without collapsing. This is particularly beneficial for achieving extra puffy sleeves and gathers. Other suitable fabric options include organdy, medium-weight linen, taffeta silk, or a poly blend.
Fabric requirements
• About 1.6 meters (63 inches) of fabric that’s 140 cm (55 inches) wide for the blouse version
• Around 2.5 meters (98 inches) of fabric that’s 140 cm (55 inches) wide for the dress version
Supplies
• Matching thread
• 1.5 meters (60 inches) of 1.5 cm (5/8 inch) wide single-fold bias tape. Booklet includes how to do it yourself if you want to have matching bias tape.
• 0.5 m (20 in) of 1 cm (³⁄₈ in) wide elastic.
• Interfacing (optional, for reinforcing button placket if your fabric needs it): Blouse - 0.5m (20in) / Dress - 1m (40in)
• 5 round buttons for the blouse or 10 for the dress. The ones I used are 1.1 cm (approximately ⁷⁄₁₆ inch) in diameter.
• For the neckline drawstring, use ribbon, store-bought cord, or you can make your own—just add it to your shopping list if not using main fabric.
