Pattern database

Flags and notices

There are currently two ways patterns can be flagged by and for the community. Both will insert a notice on the pattern and allow it to be filtered by those flags.

Suspicious

If a pattern/designer has this flag, it has been evaluated by the admins and moderators as being in some way suspect, and that there are clear signs you might not get the result you're expecting.

The notice is there to warn members of Threadloop to consider carefully before purchasing or using these patterns. It does not necessarily mean that the pattern has been AI generated, but that the marketing of the pattern may contain deceptive or stolen content.

It looks like this:

Caution advised
This designer has been flagged by the community for potential use of stolen content, AI generated images, or discrepancies between pattern and finished product.

What warrants this flag?
There are various indicators which might lead to a pattern being flagged as caution advised. Here are some of them. This list is not exhaustive and not all will apply each time.

  • Misrepresentation of the pattern by using AI generated or stolen images
  • Details from the line drawing do not match the product photos
  • Reviews or discussions on other platforms indicating that the pattern was not as described
  • Scans of vintage patterns which are still in copyright

My patterns are flagged, what can I do?
If you believe your patterns have been flagged without good reason, please contact us at support@threadloop.app

Culturally insensitive

We might flag a pattern if there are culturally insensitive imagery or phrasing, including stereotypical and harmful depictions, and slurs. In some cases, we might simply remove the words or imagery in question, but if they are part of the official copy, we will flag it as culturally insensitive.

It looks like this:

Cultural sensitivity notice
This pattern has been flagged by the community for culturally insensitive imagery or representations. It is included for historical completeness, but Threadloop does not endorse these depictions.

Why are they not just removed?

Instead of just deleting things we do not agree with or endorse, we believe that it is most helpful to the community if we can be a place where those things can be discussed and/or critiqued.

The nature of our database being crowdsourced also makes it quite hard to police these things and avoid duplicates. If we just delete patterns or designers, they will often be added back later.

How can I flag a pattern or designer?

To flag a pattern or designer, you can either tag the team or mods in discussions or you can send us an email to support@threadloop.app
